How Melanotan-2 works?
MT-2 is a nonselective melanocortin receptor agonist used to activate MC1R–MC5R signaling. In melanocytes, MC1R activation increases adenylyl cyclase activity and cAMP signaling, which drives downstream transcriptional programs involved in melanin synthesis. In CNS-relevant models, melanocortin receptor activation is used to probe appetite suppression and neuroendocrine arousal circuitry, including receptor desensitization dynamics in time-course assays.
