How SS-31 works?
SS-31 is an aromatic cationic tetrapeptide that accumulates at the inner mitochondrial membrane and associates with cardiolipin. In lab systems, this interaction is linked to preserved cristae architecture, reduced cardiolipin oxidation and cytochrome c peroxidase activity, lower mitochondrial reactive oxygen species, and improved coupling of electron transport to ATP production under stress.
